Ok, I've tried pulling the cover off 5 times, and I really don't like hearing the valve cover scrap on the screws for it, and not to mention I'm getting really pissed here...

The damn hose won't move AT ALL. It's like it was fuckin super glued on there. I can get most of the valve cover off except for the screw right near the hose, I just don't have enough clearance with the damn hose there, and my frustration level is rising...

Any other suggestions? I'm ready just to cut the damn hose and buy a replacement, but that just adds more work, and the way everything's going, I won't finish tonight, and I'll have to drive another car to school tomorrow.

    Arg...

take a small tipped flat head screwdriver and push it down in between the hose and the valve cover. Maybe you can get the bead to break free. if not cut it and replace, as if it's dryed out any way it will crack soon and cuase vacume leaks.

Tried that, and it cracked. Ha, I saw that one comin.

I'm gonna cut it off tonight, adn clean off the cover tonight. Then buy everything I need from the dealer tomorrow and finish everything up as well.

I hope I can finish everything tomorrow. ;)

If you take a look, the other end of that hose connects to the side of the throttle body. You'll notice there is barely any clearance between the throttle body and the intake manifold to pull that hose off. I had to remove the throttle body to replace that hose, but I didn't mind because I had to replace gasket for the throttle body heater anyway. Just my experience. You may be able to get it off without any trouble, but I would check before you go buy any parts. If you have to take off the throttle body you'll need some other parts. Check it and tell me, if need be I can tell you what other parts you need to get.

            Well, damn, I hope not...

I guess I better take a closer look. Cause this hose is NOT coming off. I tried prying a very small screw driver under it, all it did was crack, and now a little 4mm square it broken out of the hose. I can't get the cover off until this hose lets go. Maybe I should heat it up or seomthing? I mean, park of the hose just broke off, it's not like a crack went all the way up it.

I'll go take a look now...

It looks like the hose goes right under the throttle body and into the end of the air intake boot? I'm not quite sure where the breather hose goes, though, I can't see it any futher than a few inches under the throttle body.

I'm kind of lost and confused here. You have any pictures of both ends of this hose? I mean, arg, all I wanted to do was adjust my valves, and I can't even get the damn cover off...

I think I'll just let it sit for tonight..

unless I'm mistaken it connects to the ICV.

Does it go from the top of the valve cover to the side of the throttle body in between the 2 coolant lines for the TB Heater? cause thats the Vent for the Head. Like a 6 dollar part IIRC

or does it go from the ICV (Round tube with a 2 wire harness coming out of it) to the side of the intake bellows?

Cause that is for the Idle Control Valve so the ECU can control engine speed (IE Idle)

It goes to the throttle body between the two coolant hoses and yes it's the Vent for the head.

Got the hose off alright. It just cracked it a bit to get it off the knob. Then I twisted it around to get it out. It wasn't too bad - now the hard part will be getting a new one back in.

I'll keep you all posted - got the valve cover off finally.

Wow. Sounds like a rocky start and you havent even gotten started. :D
                        Good luck.

Haha, rocky is an understatment. I'm learning a crap load of stuff as I go here. A nice thing to know is if I do all this right, it should run quite nicely. I'm pretty confident that I can do this correctly.

And, that hose I wasn't able to get a hold of today, but I'll be getting it tomorrow.

Well, it was a success. They still click, which they are suppose to, but the car is a lot quiter.

Seems to run smoother as well. Definately worth the time and effort.

I'll be posting some pics of the valve cover soon. It turned out really nice. However, it's already gotten dirty? I don't know how, I don't see any oil leaks, so.. ;)

I got that hose on ok, pretty simple too, I just made sure it stayed warm (put it over our heater vent) until I put it on, so it was flexible.

How hard was it to turn the crank?

That was a really good idea.
