    extra oil pan clearance?

does someone fabricate anything to lift the engine for an extra 1/2"-1" of clearance? thought about making custom motor mounts as i had to lift the right side of the engine up to get to the passenger side control arm and i realized how much room i had to raise it.

get a machine shop to fabricate you a solid cylinder with a hole in the middle and use a bolt.

but why you want to raise it (when there are other options) is beyond me. a higher CoG is just stupid.

Instead of making custom motor mounts, why don't you just shim up the stock motor mounts with spacers/washers? Many people do this when installing a 24v motor in order to gain clearance with headers or brake booster.

I wouldn't recommend this for a track car because of the raised center of gravity. For a street car where handling doesn't matter, I don't think it will harm anything.

that was another thought. i figure i'll have to throw spacers all along the drive line to keep the geometry the same as if it was stock.

the center of gravity won't be effected that bad as it's an inch tops. when you're tweaking your car that much, you're on the professional level up against guys with enough money to run a dry sump and drop the engine 5 inches.........and track is boring so no, it won't be tracked.

you'd be surprised how much difference an inch makes when you're dealing with a block of metal that weighs 400lbs.

          the track is not boring.

and you're much better off just buying/building an oil cooler guard.

skid plates increase the chance of a cracked pan and give less clearance.

LOL. sorry it comes out like that but it's just not that exciting imo. maybe it's because i need something with more balls than i've had available.

              and i like passing people

what kind of track racing are we talking about? every time i see someone talking about tracking a car, it's in a parking lot with cones racing against the clock.

Haha yeh we meant a real race track.

After my first real track experience at Monticello...driving has become completely different.

LOL @ track = parking lot and cones

A parking lot with cones is a parking lot with cones.

A track is a, well, track.

Haha can't argue with that definition.

                              Raise the suspension maybe?

Because lifting the motor will only result in a fucked up driveshaft geometry...
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
