It isn't broken, the stock m42 radiator just doesn't keep my motor cool enough...so in a sense it is broken.

Talked to Nate who was super cool, they're looking to get into the BMW scene. I found them through amazon and decided to call them directly to see where they were located and if they really had them in stock. On amazon they have it listed for $236.95, and when I called he knocked of the price cause he was in a good mood :)

How the hell did you fit the overflow hose and the upper rad hose on at the same damn time? I had to get an extra thin overflow hose, and the clamp setup that I'm using (since there isn't room for two real clamps) means there is minor leakage out of the overflow hose. For some reason they decided to make the overflow nipple right next to the upper rad nipple, or do I just have a freak radiator?

mine fit and worked great. i am running IE silicone cooling hoses and a stock overflow. i just had to clock the hose clamps differently than before.

I had problems with the endtanks sealing after a little bit of beating on the new M42 radiator I had before. I just got sick of it after the 10th leak, hence the all-aluminum deal. Should be able to take more of a beating and I don't have to worry about it sealing.

Of course, now I have retarded hose fitment issues. It never ends.

I should have shown you my rad at the picnic. I had the same issue initially with my mishimoto rad. I think you might be able to gain the clearance you need if you ditch the BMW hose clamps and use cheapo generic stainless clamps like this



The reason being on the bmw clamp the "threads" if thats the right word are raised off the band. The band on the regular old autoparts store hose clamps are flat and you should be able to fit two of them on there.

Stock M42 rad works perffffeect! I just put in a lower t-stat and put a E-fan on.

Same here. Is it a bad thing that I'm using the Mishimoto e36 for my M20?

I'm curious as to the necessity of the Mishimotos as well. Copper/brass is better at cooling than aluminum, so it's mainly for looks, IMO.

Don't worry. It's more than just for looks. Aluminum transfers heat faster than copper. And it's lighter.

I just fit up mine it was tight but I put the upper hose on first tightened it then slipped the clamp over the overflow tube then sliped the hose inbetween the clamp and hose; tightened them down and I was good to go...

Flimsy plastic endtanks are flimsy plastic endtanks. Sure the M42 has more to leak from but the flaw is still there; I didn't want to worry about it any more.

Seriously though, how hard would it have been to put another damn half inch of spacing in between those nipples?

Copper transfers heat faster. Scientific fact.

But the fact that aluminum is cheaper and lighter negates that fact.

Plus aluminum radiator = bling.
