Turbo, Individual Throttle Bodies or Swap? Cannot decide

    Sup R3V,

I just got an e30 a month back and have decided that i want to drift. I am looking for about 250-300 rwhp and trying to do it so in a timly manner.

I can't really decide whether to do a swap, turbo my m42 or to throw Individual throttle bodies on.

    Any suggestions?
Also, what will the tranny hold?
Does anyone drift? And whats your set up?

My suspension is also iffy, i don't know if a IE3 (i have the springs already) + Billy sports will suffice.

I am gonna replace my control arms and tie rods and get a LSD (what is the best ratio?) and get some front and rear strut bars and some 25mm and 22mm sways with poly bushings.

I'm new to bimmers and to the sport so feel free to point me in the right direction,

    Thanks mates

ITBs aren't going to give you a 100+hp gain by themselves. on a stock motor you might see 10hp. on an M42 it may be less.

the stock M42 tranny is pretty weak though, and you definitely don't want to use the stock M42 diff with anything over about 150hp.

I think the cheapest answer for that kind of power is a turbo M20 swap. 3.73 or 4.10 diff locked not LSD. You can do a S50/S52 swap but that will only net 200 RWHP stock.

Shit. So it seems like the m42 is kinda junk. So if i throw in an m20 then turbo that bitch we should be talking some good numbers.

And when you say locked are you talking about welded?

                locked=welded

and a turbo on a "stock" M20 should give you 250 RWHP. I can tell you that with 200RWHP and a locked/welded 3.73/4.10 it will be slideways all day.

I have a 4.10 LSD and there are certain turns that I drift in 4th gear with 180RWHP, I can not imagine if it the diff was locked and if I have another 75rwhp

the tranny probably holds a little more but definitely not the diff. there's plenty of people who've broken them with a stock M20. plus this dude wants to drift..

Yeah. So i'm thinking something like a 3.73 LSD not locked becuase there is going to be some DDing in this car.

Set up is gonna be a m20 2.5 with a 2.7 head with a thick headgasket boost about 10-15 lbs.

What tranny do i need to get to hold that much power??

don't do a 2.7 head. just get a stock B25, the 2.7 head is garbage.
