I have no idea why that would even be the case....So, putting foam inside #9 might not even fix this.
There is a expanding foam that you can spray in there that will stop these rattles, the factory uses this stuff all the time on roof skins, I have used this many times when I used to work at a body shop. Go to your nearest body shop and ask them about this foam stuff.
It's not leaking from the roof...the problem is the sheet metal inside #9 is rattling away . Drains are fine.
There is also no rust, other than on the sunroof crank pipes.... i wonder if stiff suspension was the cause of this? odd.
oh I know, that was in reference to your other thread where you asked about sunroof seals.
if the peice isn't physically falling off, just foam it. :)
as to your other q, yeah stiff suspension probably caused it. I'm looking forward to the day I can seam weld my car and put in a full cage. at ~230k it's starting to get a bit sloppy, the doors don't even close the same now.. :(
Jean - I can't hear a damn thing in my car it's so loud - I bet most of these e30 are that way too. How in the world is one rattle causing you so much grief?

why is your car so loud? with 3" exhaust the loudest thing on my car is the intake. lol
Lol.. I can't stand rattles, especially if it's a metal on metal kind..it really is annoying. Plus, it's right there infront of me I can't ignore it :)
My car isn't exactly quite either, dual 2 into cat, into single 2.5 out exhaust, it's nice when I am easy on the gas and it gets loud at 3k+ plus.
So, what kind of expanding foam should I ask for.. I googled it last night and there are two kinds i guess, the ones that become hard when expand and the ones that stay somewhat soft?
Luke - I have two subs, not in use collecting dust. One is an older polk db, and one is a massive "Blueprint 12" that I build a 3" cube box for home use, it's massive lol.
