    Removing cruise control

Has anybody removed their cruise control? I am planning on doing this mainly because it is in the way of me building me heat shield for my cone intake.
I'm guessing this should be an easy task?
Does anybody have any tips on taking it out?

I dont think you will see much of a weight reduction.

Edit: I have never done this (my car doesnt even have it), but from looking at the system, I would say it is a very easy taks. Just uplug it and remove the wiring harness and CC cable.

I've removed most of a cruise control system before.....not that much in the way of weight savings, but it does open up some real estate behind the driver's side headlight for custom CAI fab work. If you really want to shave off some poundage, remove the entire A/C (providing you can live without it). That should take 60+lbs. off the nose of the car.

that really doesn't sound worth removing. better to take a dump before you get in your car and keep your working cruise control..

How does the electrical connector come off of the servo? I bought a new servo from TJ and will need to remove (properly) the electrical connector.

Did all of you guys running a cone intake with a heatshield have to remove your cruise control? I don't see any way of boxing in the air filter without pulling the cruise control.
Any tips on removing it? or just start unbolting stuff? How does the cruise control stalk come out?

Doesn't seem like an even trade off - no cruise control for a CAI?

Uhh, I'm putting cruise INTO my car. haha

Just unhook all related wiring and yank it. It's pretty simple, just gotta remove lots of little itnerior pieces.

I am not giving up my cc I am putting the filter down near the bumper. I am taking the servo off to replace it as mine died.

that lever is so impractical. Plus how often do you get to use it anyway? Took mine off and got CC-less interior column cover.

And i think 4-5 lbs is wrong. I'll way everything together tomorrow (switch, wiring, control unit, and servo) sounds a bit too light, but we'll see.

I took CC out because i did my 5spd swap...i miss it. bfest....cruises...even long streets.

I miss my a/c too....currently waiting on freeze12 to come..

Otherwise, the wire doesn't detach from the servo, its one piece that connects with a plug somewhere under the dash. the column lever is almost self explanatory.
