yes you can put the bearing on without a press. You have to find something to sit on the bearing surface (not the race) and just tap on it with a hammer. You will know if you got it or not because if you can't put the c-clip in, you didnt get it far enough.

that guibo is trash, you should be able to remove that vibration damper.

And pre-load on the csb is basically putting tension on the rubber housing. You will see the two bolt holes where you would attach to the car are slotted. Put the bolts in and then move the entire housing forward (toward front of car) and with tension still on the housing, tightend the bolts. If you dont do this, it may vibrate.

It doesn't matter if you mount the drive shaft to the tranny the same way. The only thing you have to worry about it putting the splines back in the same place if you separate the 2 parts of the drive shaft to mount a new CSB.

 The write-up I read from pelican parts didn't mention marking the splines to the rear driveshaft, so I didn't...wow

I did seperate it and Iput it back and drove it, all seems ok but now you have me really worried, shit dude what should I do?

Your driveshaft is most likely now on it's way to being pretty unbalanced. When a driveshaft is balanced, it's obviously done with the two halves of the driveshaft put together. Hence if they are separated, and not put back together the way they were when it was balanced, it's going to be out of balance.

that happened to me and it caused my brand new csb housing to crack in half within 2k miles

Yup. If your driveshaft hasn't already started to shake/vibrate, it probably will soon.

If you unbolt the driveshaft from the guibo then unbolt the center suport bearing from the car and the rear transmition mounts you can get it all apart pretty easily.

Did you just read his first post, and then skip to the last page of the thread without reading anything in between?

So what am I supposed to do at this point to get it balanced?

you could take it to a driveline shop and have them try to find the balanced orientation of the two halves, or just pay them to rebalance it. personally I'd rather have the factory balance, I had a custom shaft made once and even though it was "balanced" it vibrated like a mofo.

Why wouldn't this write-up mention it?

Got driveshaft noise? Perhaps it's your center driveshaft bearing. If you're replacing your flex disc (below), you should check out this article as well.

Why?? It would have been nothing to mark it, it really pisses me off they could leave something like that out

That write-up is for an E36.
