Has anyone changed their guibo/flex disc before? How hard of a job is this actually, how long did it take you and how many people did u have to help you?

Re: doing guibo job
Pretty easy job, you just have to remove a lot to get to it. It makes it worlds easier to do it if you drop the exhaust, but you don't HAVE to, you can just drop it at the rear and have it supported by something, it's just harder. Then, you remove the heat shielding above the exhaust, and unbolt the driveshaft. I'm pretty sure you have to unbolt the entire driveshaft, but I could be wrong. Then you just have to unbolt the old flex disc, replace it with the new one, and then it's just a matter of bolting everything back up. It helps to have one other person there with you, and it should take about 1-2 hours.Originally posted by zxdHas anyone changed their guibo/flex disc before? I did it in an hour or so, but I didn't have any heatshields in the way. It is easy but slightly uncomfortable on the ground. perfect time to do a rear seal on the trans if it leaking.Comment

mine took me hours. I had the car raised like 4 inches on some wood i drove it on to and i had to keep getting out for differnt tools. I had to use an impact wrench to get the damn bolts offComment

I changed the CSB as well.Originally posted by BrewShould be like a 20 minute job. Get the car as high as you can and get two big crescent wrenches (17mm I think) on those suckers. Its six bolts- shouldn't take two hours.Comment

I get to do that job AGAIN this weekend, after doing it about 3 weeks ago. Oh well, at least the right one will be in there this time.Originally posted by DigitalwaveI changed the CSB as well.Originally posted by BrewShould be like a 20 minute job. Long story...
But while we were in there, we did both the rear tranny seals, rebuilt and replaced every bushing and clip in the shift linkage, and cleaned everything really well. PERFECT time to do any of those jobs if they need them, it's all super easy to get to with the exhaust down and the driveshaft out. Take advantage.Comment

Wish I could do the same but it's my first time doing it, I'm not familar with driveshaft and tranny at all, and so I don't know what needs replacing, I'm not sure what a CSB even is...is that the driveshaft bearing?Originally posted by Eurospeed88I get to do that job AGAIN this weekend, after doing it about 3 weeks ago. Yes, it's the big bearing in the center of the driveshaft, where the 2 halves connect. If it's really worn, you'll want to replace it as well while you're down there. It's under $40, and not hard to change, you just have to have it pressed onto the driveshaft at a shop.Originally posted by zandiWish I could do the same but it's my first time doing it, I'm not familar with driveshaft and tranny at all, and so I don't know what needs replacing, I'm not sure what a CSB even is...is that the driveshaft bearing?Comment
