What I meant is rather than having to change fascias like David has, just spin the whole tach assembly like you can in Porsche's with the old VDO gauges.
Ive found a few pics of others who have done the new fascia and needle repos, but econo gauge delete would satisfy meYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

if she goes for that, astroglide up your pole, have her lay on her stomach and slip it in slowly and bury it to your balls and leave it there until she relaxes. once she is used to it slam that ass like a screen door.Comment

oh, I think you could do that. might have to deal with some mounting issues, but I don't see why you couldn't.
regarding tachs - it's exactly the same as the E36 tach. I rebuilt mine using the motor from an E36 cluster (as well as the econometer) when the tiny spring assembly in there exploded into a million peices, never to be put together the same way again. Actually the entire cluster is basically the same, except the SI board is intergrated, and the odometer electronic instead of electromechanical. I bet you could swap an entire E36 cluster without too much work.Comment

I remember when I had one apart I had a look a the time, if you check this pic
The tach slots into the plastic housing so you cant get the whole assembly and rotate it as it wont fit in the housing.
Nicest way would be to make a fascia like David has so that the numbers are the right way up and repos the needle.
Interesting about the E36, a few E46 cluster transplants getting around now tooYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.
