Guibo looks shot... but would it rattle? *pics*

I was checking for what was wrong from this thread, and I found my guibo was very cracked and might even look broken in some places. After reading that thread, do the symptoms seem to line up? Because while I could see the guibo causing the vibrations I have, it doesn't seem like it would make the loud clunk/rattle sound. Could it possibly be the center support bearing as well? I hope not, since that's $50 and I am broke as a joke...

Does an automatic 325i need the 110 or 96mm guibo?

    Thanks in advance.

The original guibo on my car was in worse shape than that and it didn't cause any wierd noises/vibrations, but who knows. Then again, that same guibo also "blew up" one day when I was doing about 130mph, so I'd highly recommend changing it regardless. ;)

I actually have a lead on a tranny swap kit for dirt cheap.

that looks pretty trashed to me.. I bet it's responsible for at least some of the noise. my guibo's look brand new (one of them is).

It could cuase some noise as the tranny has a metal pin that slides into the end of the driveshaft. If the Guibe is bad the driveshaft could flex around some and hit that metal pin. Just and idea but that might be it.

should change the driveshaft center support bearing while you're at it since i'ts going to be removed when u change the guibo... might as well do your tranny mounts too.

Just read your clunk problem post, and I used to have a clunk from the rear... it all went away when I changed my guibo and center support bearing... dunno why it clunked, but changing the 2 parts fixed the clunk.

It was my damn wheel... I think it threw all the weights and was wobbling enough to make that noise.

yes, the CSB will cause a clunking sound. My new CSB cost around $25, i'd call around.

When I first got my e30, it had bad center support bearing, and it was vibrating car really bad.

haha, I had the same thing happen except it was ice and snow build up in the rear wheels. It shook like mad on the highway untill I found out what it was. Good stuff.
