So change your thermostat then, there are 3 temps for E30's, 71, 73, and 80 I believe.

it allows the car to start cooling earlier and also stay cooler however u don't want to let it run too cold b/c then its not good for optimum performance. you can usually go one step down, (so from like 80-73, or 73-71 and etc). this allows you to run that and lower fan switch which enables you do not need mechanical fan anymore.

Well think about it this way. If you put in a cooler thermostat, your coolant is going to start flowing into your radiator at a lower temperature, therefore not enabling your motor to reach optimum operating temperature. Also, since you have a lower thermostat in you coolant is always going to be circulating, not giving it enough time to cool down, thus resulting in your motor actually running hotter than you want it to. I guess what im tryiing to say is ultimatley your motor will actually run hotter, because you arent giving the coolant enough time to disipate its heat. I think I am going to leave the current thermostat in the car.

The fan unmounts from the condenser and has no real mounts I am going to remove the rivets on the mounts on the condensor & make a mount. Damn this thing puts out some serious air!!!!!
I tried connecting power to the connector but no go, when I connected directly to the back of the fan it went!! Does that mean the resistor is bad or do I need to connect the red & brown wires to a relay & black to ground?
Gracias!Last edited by parkerbink; 10-05-2005, 01:44 PM.

My 5-10HP comment was a general statment about any engine. Different engines will gain more then others and vise versa.

I think that I am in need of a cooling system overhaul, mine starts at half and goes to three quater, then again when my lower radiator bushing popped out and my fan had two blades stuck into my radiator I guess that didnt help things. going fast on a mock track and hitting a track style curb hard will jar things loose.

FYI guys, im looking for "Custom" application of universal aluminum racing radiators on ebay. One of my E36 buddies used a 19"x26"x3"thick radiator on his E36 in place of his stock plastic radiator and he said he could run zero fan even with stock thermostat and fan swithc and car never ran warm ever, the cooling capacity and efficiency was greatly increased. they are about $170 on ebay. just throwing out idea's here and there.
