Bad oil leak?. Look at picture.

hey r3v, so i woke up this morning..moved my e30 to the driveway, came back and saw this big spill.. it wasnt there yesterday.. i changed my oil not even 1000 miles ago , ROYAL PURPLE oil, please let me know what is going on. thank you (attachment below)

What kind of oil. Motor,tranny oil, powder steering fluid, brake fluid? Look on the under side of tha car. A picture of an oil spot does not help unless you could explain where it is I respect to the car parked above. (under the front of the motor or rear of car.

Hard to help with the little info you are giving. Lots of places oil could be leaking. Probably best to get under and investigate. Front of engine, rear of engine look around.

I just figured out that i need a new oil pan gasket , it gave out

Make sure you get a clean container to save that Royal Purple in. Shit be expensive.

If you've got a high mileage motor...

...and swap to synthetic oil this is very common.

The detergents in the syn oil will remove any sludge acting as a dam or barrier to a compromised seal or gasket.

Check your oil cooler lines to the motor. They have a tendency to back out over time. At least, they have for me.

other than the necessary tools needed for replacing oil pan gasket, do I need to put sealants on each side of the gaskets?

I was guessing it would be your pan. I need to do mine soon. Let me know how it goes :)

bad pan gasket should leak that bad,look like front main seal went bad.
