    2 fuels pumps - tre 340 idea/help

I have been looking at replacing my fuel pumps (my 87 325e has 2) as they have been having some issues and am looking at the tre 340 swap. Is there anyway I can swap the tre 340 in the tank and get rid of the pump under the car that is inline? Or is there another way to get to one pump? I really hate there is 2 on mine.

if you value performance, a two pump system is actually better. but you'd want the stronger pump on the outside, then the in-tank pump is just a lift pump.

although it's an eta, so maybe it doesn't matter. still, I don't see a point in going through the hassle - better to just replace the pumps with their equivalents and leave it alone.

Yeah after looking at posts and reading more just think I am going to replace both pumps getting an airtex in tank and bosch underneath.

Don't buy Airtex pump. I had one went out on me after six month. Tre340 or bosch is better.

The harder part, I found, was finding an inexpensive lift pump. There are lots of
high- pressure pumps out there, but the low- pressure high volume supply pump
isn't as easy to source cheaply.

I went with the in- tank high pressure version, as it's fewer parts to fuss with.

now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

you could use just about anything for a lift pump. it won't hurt if it's high pressure, except it'll draw more power than a plain lift pump. it will make the second fuel pump have to work less hard.
