    Can't pass CA smog D:

I took my car to get smogged about a week ago and went in feeling pretty confident until the technician told me it had failed pretty bad. He went on to telling me it's going to need an engine rebuild and that it also might need a catalytic converter so i left home pretty sad and kept thinking if it's going to need a rebuild i might as well retire it. I ended up at least trying to get it to pass so tried a couple simple things like the 02 sensor, spark plugs (NGK ZGR5A's instead of the Bosch platinum +4's it had), coil, different air flow meter. Since they were giving me a diagnosis for free i was like ehh i'll try and see what happens and these are the results, still failed i might add. Where should i go from here?

Sea foam, fresh oil, injector cleaner, tons of octane booster. Before u take it to smog make sure you run really hard. You want to show up with your catalytic about to melt. The hotter it is the more effective the cat is.

I believe someone in Ca. should put together a double Cat. stock attachable Mr. Clean exhaust for E30 drivers. Rent the dam thing for a week. Slip it on, after any of the witchdoctor recipes that have solid corrective answers like alcohol, synthetics,,,,, motor down to the ass rape, get checked and new certificate, motor home and swap out the anti ass rape exhaust. Good to go for another year or whatever the ass rapers pontifically declare. Shit like this from the bourgeoisie reminds me of the movie "Being There".

I took it right after i got off work (next town over) and i ran it HARD in the 104 degree weather we had that day so i'm pretty sure the catalytic converter was pretty hot :D Also put injector cleaner every time i filled up with premium for a month before the test, changed the oil not too long ago along with a new air filter cuz the old one was duuuuurty.
I'm not too sure about the Sea Foam stuff, i heard a lot of bad things about it

Put in a new cat. Honestly it makes a world of difference. My car with a strong fresh motor went from not even close to passing with flying colors.

do not seafoam it, it will plug the cat and likely fail smog. all my cars passed smog without seafoam and a year later they all failed smog after running it through with seafoam.
Bought parts from me before? leave your feedback here

Octane booster will make it harder to pass in short term. Only helps after running it for about 2-3 tanks of gas.
If you want a better chance, make a smog appointment at a given time, drive the car around in a low gear at around 5k rpm for a few minutes, and when you come back make sure the test is done right away.
CAI will lower NOx values. So will sealing any vacuum leaks.
Got this info from a buddy of mine who owns and operates a smog shop.

If you're desperate you can drill small holes along the length of the top of the cat back lol.

However he recommended to avoid dicking around with a cheap solution, and just buy some new cats.

I haven't "passed" smog in CA the last two times b/c of NOX. HC and CO2 were well below legal but its the NOX that keeps gettin' me.

I've been hearing about De-natured alcohol. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I've heard from one forum that it doesn't change NOX which is what I need it to change. I wish I would've paid attention in chem.

                        Please help meh.

yeah smog sucks but if your car isn't passing smog, there's something seriously wrong with your engine so don't jip out on it unless you're doing it on purpose for performance reasons

Disagree. The only thing seriously wrong with my car is that it lives in CA.

so let's be clear (as I was referring to those who want a 100% functional motor that is within stock specs and NOT tuner oriented). if you want your car to perform as it was designed to, you're telling me that smog numbers don't matter? hmm maybe you should tell that to the BMW engineers that built their engines with consideration of european emission laws (way more strict than CA) by throwing in the ridiculous smog compliant equipment, plumbing, and catalytic converters. I'm sure they don't know what the hell they were doing.
