What does a brand new ignition, trunk and 2-door lock set cost, with keys?

oh wow. Thanks for sharing that rebuild kit information !!

Shit - i'm going to do that out of preventative maintenance. My driver's side is getting finicky. Like the action is bad when I go to lock it. It's hard to twist just enough pressure on the key for it to "single" lock - otherwise, it sort of pops over to double lock..

Maintenance fixes that are noticeable on a daily basis are worth it, especially at $20 a door.

Damn, my key was $60 and that is w/o A light.

My central locking isn't working either, so I may have to do this sometime!

How long does it take to get a key from VIN/title from a dealership?

You can get the Key Code for your vehicle from the parts desk at any BMW dealer with the title and VIN. Then take that code to any reputable locksmith and they will cut you a key on the spot! Less money than the dealership would charge for a key as well. I have done this on 2 occasions.

Yes, for one door. Oops, not under $25. This one was/is $26...

That would be nice, but none of my local locksmiths would touch it. Dealer ended up being $36 and 3 days, less than quoted over the phone.

For anyone that is still wondering about this, I have a recent update: Called my nearest dealer today (Erhard BMW) and was quoted $33 for a new one, cut from my VIN.

The best part, I didn't even have to go in: I was able to fax in a copy of my registration and driver's license. I was told the new keys will arrive in 2-3 business days.
