That's the parking brake cable isn't it? And maybe just grease that was used to keep it from seizing up when they were replaced?

                yes.

heres my guess. okay you see the fluid dripping down the backside of the brake rotor shield. That leads me to believe that the axle shaft/ bearing is shot. However you do have what seems to be brake fluid close to the brake line inlet on the caliper...? this fluid on the rotor shield could be brake fluid? someone did a messy brake line install?? the brake line looks new. thats the only reason why I assume

yea good detective skills. I was replacing my brake lines in this pic and thats brake fluid you see.

The grease is a seperate issue...I dont have any whining from rear...this is just something I happen to see while my car was up on the lift.

I would clean it all up and call it good then. thats probably just road grime/ dirt and grease from being 20 some years old.

Clean it up, drive it for a few weeks and check it again. If there is more grease, then you have a problem. As others have said, it's likely a ripped CV boot or a bad wheel bearing (or both). Even though you don't hear any noise from the bearing, doesn't mean it isn't starting to fail. Have they ever been replaced?

With a ripped CV boot you will usually see a circumference of grease splattered in a line even with the rip in the boot.
