Random turn signal sound going off

Started my car earlier today and the turn signal sound was randomly going off without the turn signals being on. When I switch the turn signals on they work fine but then after they turn off the sound is still ticking. Anyone have any ideas?

Update: So a couple day ago turn signals just stopped working all together. The noise went away and when I turn on the signals they do not work. However the hazard lights still work. I picked up a used stalk from someone and swapped it in. It did not fix the problem. So either I am unlucky and got another broken stalk or it's a different problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Could be a sign of a failing turn signal stalk.

Is it a consistent tick like the turn signals or just random?

The emergency flashers will also activate the flasher and that switch could possibly be stuck (as they are prone to be) so that when you hit a bump it makes contact.

I had this with a broken stalk (one of the interior switches was busted). After I replaced it the relay firing noise was gone.

So you just replaced the turn signal stalk?

Maybe the relay. Hazard relay is separate.

I'm chasing an annoying turn signal issue, too. The damn things go frenetic but they work. I just had the bumper off checking/cleaning all the contacts and wiring and nothing--am going to pull the wheel off and replace the relay next.
