3.5 rev limit in a 318is?!?!?!?

welp...I got towed yesterday. the fuel pump died. I thought that fuel was the prob. I was going through some curvies and the "rev limit" went down to 4k in 3rd...so I downshifted for more power and the "rev limit" droped to 2.5k!! this left me w/out much power at all so I was forced to shift into 1st and the engine cut off. I coasted off the main road and that was it.

I tried to get a new pump but EVERYONE in and around greensboro was out of them except for advance. they told me that I had two fuel pumps like the older 87' and below style. Sooo I bought the external one trusting them (the external one on the older cars is the main pump, the in tank pump won't leave you stranded) and when I went back to my car guess what...I don't have an external pump. Soooo I take it back..not really mad b/c the external is $175 and the internal is $75. I get the internal pump and go back to my car to put it on. Guess what they gave me the wrong one AGAIN!!! I guess they don't know anything about my car. Anyway now my car has to stay at my house for a week till I come back for spring break since its going to take a while to get my part in.

they did but they gave me the wrong thing two times. I am pissed about it b/c I could have ordered the RIGHT part if I knew they were gonna give me the wrong crap. I hate auto zone but advance is getting on my nerves. they are nice but dumb as crap.
