I was picking up a set of front hubs from my friendly dealer and he told me that the warranty is 2 years unlimited mileage which is great...but he also said it covered parts AND labor. I asked a few questions and the bottom line is that you can buy parts over the counter and install them yourself and if there is a problem you bring the car to them. If they determine the part is defective they will replace it at their expense including labor.
Apparently this is BMW NA policy and is subject to the usual requirements for proof of purchase, not accident or abuse related etc etc.
This definitely adds value to buying genuine parts.
