The Exide group 48 that I just replaced was from 2003, which is amazeballs. I left a mirror map light on for 4 days and that was the end for my ancient battery...wouldn't hold a charge after that lol.

I replaced it with a SuperStart (O'Reilly house brand, the guy said that they are rebranded Exide batteries). It was their "ultimate" series and it cost a whopping $150 but it was the only group 48 option there. When you need a battery at 8:45pm on a weekday...

I don't expect it to last much beyond the 3 year replacement period. My next one will probably be an Optima. Still, a new battery is always nice...cranks a lot harder on my 11.5 compression ratio engine lol.

Napa batteries were highly rated by consumer reports. It's what I replaced my diehard with. I don't think Interstate actually faired that well (there were a couple other brands that were also similar at the top).

I don't know who makes Sears batteries now, I assume the quality has gone to shit like everything else from there. but my die hard was about 12 years old when I replaced it, and I drained that thing flat probably 5-6 times, it never skipped a beat. It still worked fine, but I knew I was pushing it's life expectancy and the cranking RPM was starting to drop, so I superceded it's imminent failure with the Napa battery.
