    Best Battery

What's the general consensus on the best battery today? The iX is not starting and K is tired of the autodrone batteries. (The exchange policy is great, but the batteries themselves are shit.)

Such as? I've got the autodrone batteries in 5 out of 7 cars. They don't last. The iX has the oldest one at around 3 years. The only good thing about them is that buying one means that all the rest are "under warranty" since they don't actually do any individual battery tracking.

You'd be surprised how shit a lot of batteries have become lately. Back when I still worked at a shop (left a year ago) all we used were interstate. Many would test bad around 3-4 years old (that's if someone remembered to pop the date stickers off) so an autozone battery lasting 3 years isn't too bad.

Interstate are pretty much considered the best anymore.

My dad runs optimas on all our veicles. He gets a nice discount form work though, but he is just tired of the led acids. He got me a red top for my birthday, didn't want the my new alternator to be killed. lol

Costco kirkland grp 48 $70 3 year free replacement. Pep boys Bosch grp 94 $100 3 year free replacement.

I also havent had good luck with autozone batteries. Their grp 48's were only lasting a year.

never had good luck with interstate or kirkland batteries. I'd recommend any optima dry cells. I was even able to revive a completely flat 5yr old optima. Typically would only really need them for cars you don't drive often so good a good alternative would be Bosch for a daily.

I took my Kirkland to Costco for a warranty claim and they had nothing that would fit so I've been getting mine from Advance using a $35 coupon. The price is right but I have found they dont last if you dont DD the car to keep the charge up.

Reality is that I believe Johnson Controls, Exide & Interstate make 98% of the stock replacement batteries.

I have an Optima red top in my race car that is from 1997, still works perfectly. I have heard that Optima battery's have lost some of the quality in recent years, but so far that investment has really paid off.

We ended up shoving in an Optima Yellow Top, for what it's worth.

DieHardlies (sears) used to be pretty good- haven't bought any recently, since the old ones keep working... I think they're Johnson Controls batteries, who bought Globe- Union...

Penn State batteries are one of the bigger companies out there. They make Deka, Sears, Carquest and who knows what else.
