I'm about to order a new thermostat. I'm pretty sure I need a new one, but even if I don't, they're only like $17, so it can't hurt. The problem is that those generic BMW part websites (alloembmwparts.com, aplusparts.com, gprparts.com, etc) list 3 different "degrees" of the Wahler thermostat: 80, 75, and 71 degrees. I don't want to flush and bleed my cooling system just to get into the thermostat housing to check the number before I'm actually changing it out. Does anyone know which one I should order for an '87 325is (produced 6/87)? Thanks in advance, and I apologize if this is a stupid question.
Thermostat "degree"?

I think that the Scandinavian countries have the hottest type

if you get a lower temp thermostat that means it will open sooner (ie a 75 degree Tstat will open up at 75 degrees). Depending on where you live, this can actually cause your car to overheat or to run too cool. Although, M20s run cool anyway.. I'd probably go with the 80.Comment

I think go ahead with the 80 I've never had any problems with my M20 in hot or cold weather
