    Cam choice

I am going to get a shrick cam for an M20 that i'm going to build for a 325is. It will be atleast 2.8L and may be even a IE stroker kit. Knowing this what cam should i get.

    272/272 or 284/272 or 288/288 or 304/304

i don't want an all out racer so a 304 or 288 are probably not needed. I want it to be able to be used as a daily driver with good low down torque charactersitics so it comes down to the 272/272 or the 284/272.

Which should it be? What will be the difference between the 272/272 and 284/272 in terms of drievability and performance?

    Cheers

the 284/272 is perfect for the street IMO. I don't think I would have been happy with just a 272/272. my driveability and idle were barely affected at all, it lopes but there's plenty of bottom end torque and it screams up top.

Speaking as a 304/304 owner, I'd have to say that the idle is quite annoyying, and probably would still be a little annoyying at 288/288.

So I vote 284. So that at least you feel a good power increase, while retaining streetability.

are there any before and after dyno plots of cam upgrades floating around?

So with the 284 i should get the valve springs too or will the stock ones hold up?
