    need help with the graffiti

    Hey guys,
I finally bought the car I was dreaming about. But on the bumper and front door there is old graffiti. I do not plan now the whole body repainting. The graffiti is old that why it is not easy to remove. I used the wife’s nail polish and the oven cleaner. Nothing of these has helped. Guys if you aware of any working method, please tell me.
    Thanks for your time

try lacquer thinner (testing in a hidden spot of course).

When I bought my E46 M3 years back, the PO dabbed touch up paint all over the front end of the car and it looked horrid. I used lacquer thinner to remove, and it was safe enough where it kept the OEM paint intact.

rubbing alcohol will dissolve a lot of stuff. so will lacquer thinner.

the trick is to go slowly and work in small areas or you'll really mar the paint.

White polishing compound and a soft old tee shirt. Try an area about the size of a quarter and see how it goes.

You can buy graffiti remover in a spray can, but something like acetone will work as well.

              Thanks,
I haven’t tried it yet. Can I use any lacquer thinner? Will this be good? https://www.mrosupply.com/paint-pain...800-16_krylon/ I want to apply in a small spot under the bumper. I hope it will remove that awful graffiti.

glnr13, I assume it was the spray paint.

Can be bought most places, even walmart. Anywhere that has a hardware department basically.

Don't want to use lacquer thinner on single stage paint though.

I honestly would try this first.

Use a rubbing compound to take off the top bit of paint. Then use swirl and scratch remover to get rid of the scratches from the rubbing compound (possibly do this on your whole car to get to good paint). Finally, use a good Cleaning Wax wherever you used the scratch remover. The cleaning wax has a fine grit to help polish up the paint.

Be VERY careful with the rubbing compound and because it WILL take off all the paint if you press too hard. Only use a paste rubbing compound by hand. Liquid compounds/waxes can be used with a buffer. I suggest a random orbital buffer to keep from burning off your paint and to prevent swirls.

compound it off, if its just graffitti that will work, and your car prob needs it anyway

The white stuff is for polishing. The red stuff has more grit for heavy lifting. Start with white.
