    clutch setup for 220-240hp?

what do you guys recommend? I think I am probably going to have an aluminum flywheel, so I was thinking stock pressure plate and IE "racing clutch disk" but will that be fine for the street? would it wear out a lot faster? maybe i should get the heavy duty pressure plate they have for 170 too? that brings it to 370 i guess, anything better that can be had for similar value?

i asked the same question, but mine was more focused on streetability, as this is just a cruiser car with an m20 stroker

*supposedly* the stock clutch should be good for 240hp. I guess I'll be finding out shortly. I'll be (trying) to use a 323i flywheel, which is supposed to be about 8 lbs lighter

I went with a sachs sport clutch and sachs HD pressure plate.. should be plenty enough for my stroker.

Sachs sport/HD, or even a stock E30 M3 clutch will do fine. I've run stock M3 clutches on S14s with 270whp with no issues. People tend to go overboard with their clutch setups and just end up making the car difficult to drive on the street for no reason.

My IE clutch came from clutchnet.com (their tag was in the box). Check out clutchnet's site for a bunch of options. Mine has been great. It is the 6-puck, solid hub for my track car. I have run it for three years (20+ track days) w/no issues. The stock factory clutch shredded on me (big black blob of material at the bottom of the bellhousing). Would not recommend a solid hub for a street car at all. It is a pain in the ass for stop-and-go stuff.

Use the stock e30 m3 clutch and pressure plate. It can handle alot of power had it behind my s50 in my e30 and had no problems, and I drive my car pretty hard.

Metric Mechanic sells a custom 5 series flywheel with an m20 ring gear that uses a 240mm M5 clutch and pressure plate, supposed to be rated at like 350 or something.

No. M20 clutch disk is bigger in diameter if I recall correctly.

I assume you need to use the e30 m3 flywheel when useing an e30 m3 clutch, right?
I am trying to figure out what clutch/flywheel to use with my camm'ed and chipped s50.

I am wondering what clutch will be able handle the power and be compatible with a machined down m20 flywheel. How much power can the Sachs Sport clutch and pressure plate withstand? I don't want to go overboard and get some hardcore racing clutch if I don't have to.

                            GenerI-tech Stage 4 Track-only for 650-1000hp definetly, only $50 in Super Street.

srsly though, wouldnt any beefed-up aftermarket clutch work fine for this purpose?

its predominantly torque that will kill the clutch. E.g. 300hp at 7000rpm is not as bad as 300hp at 3500rpm becasue the torque is half as much. So saying a clutch is rated for a specific hp is nearly meaningless
