    Door lock problems

I've been reading around in the google results and haven't found any real answers to this.

I cannot lock my car from the driver's side. I wouldn't care if I could push the lock button down with the door open to lock the car but for some reason I can't (it will push down with the door closed), so I've been walking around to the passenger side to lock it. When messing with the locks I have occasionally been able to get the door to lock by repeatedly turning the key to the lock position and watching the button slowly creep down, then pulling the door ajar and pushing it back. I can turn the key the full 90 degrees with some force and it will "double lock" but if I try to lock the door by turning to the 45 degree position I encounter resistance but the door doesn't lock.

Locks have been lubricated with graphite, key is new. Central locking seems to be working because I can push the button down and the other door will lock, it also will lock if I "double lock." It can't be the actuator because the driver door will lock or unlock from the passenger side, and I don't see how it could be the tumbler since it unlocks fine and will "double lock." I'm thinking the problem is somewhere in the linkage but I haven't examined it yet and wanted to ask first to see if someone knew the answer to this.

Has anyone here solved any issues like this? I want to avoid throwing parts and time at the problem. I have the tumbler rebuild DIYs bookmarked.

Also, I can't lock the car from the trunk like I've seen so many others do with their E30s, and the trunk lock acts up in its own strange way. Sometimes when I open it, if I close it again it without turning the key to the right will require the key to re-open, sometimes it doesn't.

The door not locking by pushing the pin down while the door is open is how it is supposed to function. It is so you don't accidently lock the keys inside the car. (assuming everything is working correctly)

That is all I can contribute.

Sounds like the latch mechanism is binding up, which I'm not sure if there is much solution to all of that then to just swap it out. I would also take the door apart and just check and see how everything is moving.

As far as the trunk, it sounds like some components might be loose. Take that apart and lubricate and ensure everything is tight.
I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.
