getting new fuel hoses fitted on the connectors

I got a dry rotted fuel hose that goes from the tank to the filter, so I've got the new hose, but it's tight as hell. is there some easy way to get the hose onto the fittings?

heat them up to make them softer, i use hot water but dont get the hot water inside lol. pour hot water over the end (you need quite a bit) then move quickly and put them on the car. i did these hoses recently but didnt need any special effort to get them to fit. you are using 5/16"/8mm hose right? some of the hoses are moulded but thought i should check that you have the correct size as there are different variants etc another option is a heat gun but not near any fuel of cousre needs to be done a bit remotelty

Get the correct 8 mm hose and your life will be much happier.

Go to the hardware store and buy a bottle of wire pull lube...it's an alcohol-based snot that works like a charm. Smear a dab on the end of the pipe nipple and the line will go right on.

Home Depot sells that by the quart for very cheap and the bottle I keep around is water based. Best to avoid oil based anything near rubber

Why complicate your life? Just get the correct size hose.

Even with the correct size hose I found they were hard to install, particularly the connections along the frame rail in the engine bay. Wire pull lube made it a lot easier.

Just use a bit of soap and muscle it in.

The correct hose is 8mm. All fuel lines on this car are 8x13.

It's just hard. You have to hope and pray and keep trying
