No but seriously M50 swaps are a huge waste of money... Unless your car is blown up and you get a "good" junk yard motor. Its in my eyes a factory replacement engine, not even a performance upgrade.

but dude if you wash your car, does it actually make it any faster or is it just a waste of 50 Cr?

It's a waste. Just change your oil.

maybe you've never driven a 24v e30? The peak differance btw the m20 and m50 is about 20hp, but the power and tq are much better. And thats just the start of it all. The 24v motor is a lot newer design and as you would expect it is more efficient and a more reliable motor.

The 24v motors are a VERY good platform for the e30. My m50 is much more reliable than your boosted m20 could ever hope to be.

yay! +20hp and a junkyard motor!

also, apparently you have no idea how to build a turbo motor. but that's okay, enjoy your 160whp :p

lol so I've never built a motor much less a turbo motor? hahaha...

I am more than likely going to build a 3.2l turbo for my car but I may do 3.2l n/a. I'm not sure which class I want to build my car for yet but I have time to decide. My current 24v is just to hold me over untill I finish the other motor ;)

              Power delivery is EVERYTHING...

putting parts together and actually building a motor for a purpose are two different things. any monkey can turn a wrench.

this coming from the guy who had a M42 turbo "on the way" for like 3 years... :p

Sorry I offended your cookie cutter M50. It is a good motor for a daily driver e36. It isn't enough for me. Nando and a few other guys on the forum having personally ridden in or seen my knows it isn't a joke. It can be daily driven if I wanted to since I have stock m20 power below 2500 rpms. It has never failed to start any time I have went to go drive it once I had it dialed. I am pushing 201k miles hasn't blown up yet. Keep talking trash. I personally don't give a fuck.

PS what ever happened that T3 that has been on the way for YEARS?? At least I go through with things..

Back on topic, a friend is building a 3.2 M20 aiming for well over 250 down here, and there are a few racecars with 2.7's / 250 crank.

i think if charlie really wants to build up a motor he has the resources (korman) to get all the information and any advice on setup he needs to build a good one

though my grandfather had an e28 (not positive on this but it was a 5 series so assume it was an e28 .) turbo charged by korman back in the day and he said that one hardly ever worked right...

There has been many advances in engine management in the last 10 years or so. That makes or breaks a aftermarket turbo setup.

                          notice a pattern here?

yeah, a turbo from 15 years ago using the stock computer really compares to what's available today...
