What?.........MORE expensive? Please explain - I figure the more brainless 16-19 y.o. boys who pile up the G-ride E36's mommy & daddy buy, the better.

How am I wrong here? I suppose S50's, but 52's?

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Putting a non BMW engine in a BMW is like writing a new bible because you found a replacement jesus who tap dances on water instead of walking on it, and can turn water into margaritas instead of wine.

        I couldn't resist the urge...

This is such a hot topic on all the sites I'm a member of! The LSx engine family is bad to the bone, but I like the challenge of doing something with what you got. I say taking a 140HP motor and turning 12's makes you feel better at the end of the day. I've done my share of engine swaps and it get old - putting the biggest you can stuffed in the space provided, although the only "cross-breed" was a '86 Mustang with a 355 SBC with 250hp of NOS. The "Moustang" would eat blown SBF's and ran 10.3x on juice and 11.8x motor only.
I'm sticking with my 6ers both in the 'Bird and e30, just can't promise that all my vehicles are going to stay naturally aspirated (except maybe the work truck).

IMHO.. it will make an E30 front end to top heavy. Of course if you're looking to drift it then that should be perfect.
Sorry to bring up an old thread :D

But the 1uzfe is actually lighter and shorter than an m20 so no probs with weight distrubution.

i think if you had a auto cross car you could shove the sr20 into the firewall as far as it would go to get better weight distribution

After dealing with my E39 540, i'm no longer a fan of the BMW V8's. They seem to have many more issues than the m20, m30, m50 etc.... They are kinda a bitch to work on as well.

                            I'm a fan of the 1JZ in an E30.

You can get a front clip for pretty cheap. (as low as 1400 at times)

you have 280hp to start with and I know its underated from the factory

They're nowhere near the motors the 6s are but they're not total crap either. Once you get used to the few quirks of working on the V8s they actually aren't THAT bad. I'd rather have one of those than a comparable Mercedes or Audi.

ok just to change it up. I saw a toyota pickup in germany with a S50 in it. but to me if u want to put a non bmw motor in a E30 or any BMW go for it.
