I was wondering about that I was at a junkyard a while back and decided to try to grab a 320 booster. But I couldn't get the DAMN thing out with that foot long shaft it kept hitting the intake manifold so i just left it there all unbolted.
oskar- the stock booster won't fit... unless you have a 325ix, rumor has it that an 'ix' booster will bolt up and not need any modification while clearing fine
As mentioned, the E21 booster is the one you have to use.
You could probably get away with using the stock E30 booster if you used the OBD-2 intake manifold, which is much shorter. You'll be missing out on the linear pull past 5000rpm though.
Nando, the brake booster is easy. It's the custom oil pan that you should be worrying about. ;)

well my m50 fits fine with my stock booster :)
here is a picture of a e30 with a m50 and a stock booster, i can also post a picture of my car tomorrow if yall like ;)
