you have to cut 7cm out of the shaft of the 320i booster and have it welded back together, but once that is done, it works like a charm :)

I was wondering about that I was at a junkyard a while back and decided to try to grab a 320 booster. But I couldn't get the DAMN thing out with that foot long shaft it kept hitting the intake manifold so i just left it there all unbolted.

oskar- the stock booster won't fit... unless you have a 325ix, rumor has it that an 'ix' booster will bolt up and not need any modification while clearing fine

Do you mean e30ix booster can be used with the e30M50 conversion without any modification?

I've read that too. makes me want to consider an M50 swap even more. :)

As mentioned, the E21 booster is the one you have to use.

You could probably get away with using the stock E30 booster if you used the OBD-2 intake manifold, which is much shorter. You'll be missing out on the linear pull past 5000rpm though.

Nando, the brake booster is easy. It's the custom oil pan that you should be worrying about. ;)

Why do you need the oil pan custom? you can use the oil pan from the E34 M50 engine ,that what im using now.

the ix has a driveshaft running threw the pan, on a reg e30 an E34 pan works fine but not on an ix.

You've made a clearance adjustment and if you have any engine rock the intake will hit your booster.
