And hmm, if the engine is reading a whole lot of air incoming, it will provide more gas accordingly, but in turn would be too much fuel, and burn rich, correct? Instead of supposedly lower volume of more dense and cool gas.
I dont think it would run rich, because the "extra" air is still coming in before the AFM. I while there is probably a slight loss in HP, i would think it to be minimal if you only drilled the fender side of the airbox, away from the hot engine.
what i am saying is if the engine *thinks* more air is coming in, and it cannot register the fact the air is less dense. if air is coming in but is warm and less dense, less gas would be needed.
but do 325's have air temp sensors? i do not know. that would make a difference

The AFM by it's nature registers if the air is less dense. Less dense air would create less pressure against the AFM flap since lower density air weighs less per cubic foot than cooler denser air and therefore would be registered as the correct volume of air to give you the right mixture. Besides, the O2 sensor constantly adjusts the mixture regardless of what the AFM thinks the air volume is.
I want to know more about the M30 AFM stuff. I was at a sight that had info on it but i forget what it was. anyone have a link? Ive been considering doing something to the intake. This AFM thing sounds like a good idea.
I have 3 AFM's sitting in a box I have no idea what they are too. the one engine i got wasnt in a car. thats the block that says 2.7 on the side instead of 2.5 like the other 2. Whatever that means. Would this M30 be larger? Isnt it just out of a 5 series?
after the pictures finally loaded, um mine doesnt look like that at all. I dont have any box like that. Just some lame rubber 90degree tube. :) now i have something to do this weekend.
And none of those AFMs are right. You probably just have 2 M20B25 and an eta one. Follow that link to buy Chris's, which I think he still has. You will need to swap electronics probably, but that has been discussed multiple times here, so yeah.
well I dont have that nifty air box, but Im gonna see if i cant find one of these M30 AFM's. Then I need to build a Heat Shield. Ive been meaning to do that but im lazy. Ill play around with it and see what I come up with.
i have plenty of filters. I was thinking about running some flexible tubing from on of the Air dam inlets up to the bottom of the Filter inside what will be my heatshield. Think thats worth the work?
I read all those posts, Got it now. Just to find one, Shouldnt be hard although there arent any junk yards around me. atleast that ill go to.
Is there a way to tell what the injectors are? like size? Supposedly the Fuel Rail out of my donor car had larger injectors but the rail was all nasty and grimy so we just never used it, is there a part number that i can tell by? If so i might already have them.
Yes that was the site i was talking about, the one i couldnt remember the address.
I don't know how you can run tubing to the airdam.....but it won't be worth it. It will only help ingest water. Like some Acura guy at my school who just hydrolocked his car.
But do this if you can.
And yes, I am stil being mean to you, but I am helping you. Douche.
awesome my donors are yellow, wait. so are mine..... score. And I guess you dont get what I mean by tube from the air dam. Water doesnt travel up, and if it did, it would have to then get through the filter. Water can get in the engine bay through the grill easier than up a tube.
