I'm kinda getting anal about people talking about not being cold intake, and how excellent it was designed from the factory.
Anyone interested in mine? I bought a spare box because I needed one for the M30 AFM modding, but would be willing to sell my drilled up box to someone, if they want one.....and keep their stock one as a spare.
I might really miss the sound, and how it seemed to make the car seem more agressive, and it was fun, but then again.

Wait, what do you mean?
pretty much talking around the water hole - about air filters, k&n, etc, heatshields, blah. not just here even, some page someone wrote about intakes. like the stock BMW one is the best you can get, more or less. because it draws cold air and whatever.
but you cannot beat the sound.....unless you throw down for an exhaust or something like that.

How would getting a little bit more air into the engine reduce your MPG?
Thank you.
"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
Well, it might get a little more air, by volume, but not by moles neccessarily.
Cold air is more dense and depending on the true increase of air flow into the engine, it could potentionally be brining in less air, because of the decrease in density.
But then again, we cannot be sure, but I just experienced what a cut airbox in a hot engine bay can do previously. Even though it sounds awesome, people's opinions have finally gotten to me.
And hmm, if the engine is reading a whole lot of air incoming, it will provide more gas accordingly, but in turn would be too much fuel, and burn rich, correct? Instead of supposedly lower volume of more dense and cool gas.
(I'm not positive if the system includes an air temp sensor, I thought nando said the ix did, but i dunno.....i have no idea really)

I dont think it would run rich, because the "extra" air is still coming in before the AFM. I while there is probably a slight loss in HP, i would think it to be minimal if you only drilled the fender side of the airbox, away from the hot engine.
