    Anyone interested in a 93-octane MarkD chip? (+91oct M42)

Just curious if anyone else wants in. I'm not sure how many states have 93, but up here we do and although I'm having great success with my 91-octane 3rd-gen MarkD chip (old thread), I know there is more power to be had from a boost in timing and other variables that would be suitable for 93 octane.

This would be for the 173 ECU, late-model 325i/is.

If you want more feedback on his work, here's a whole list of comments people have made. He's really a genious when it comes to the stuff.

So let me know if you'd be interested. I could probably talk him down to $200USD shipped to the lower 48 and of course Canada. This is much cheaper than a new JimC/TMS and would, without a doubt, blow away the performance of one of those.

Edit: changed the project to 93-octane (from 94) for the crappy American gas companies. 2nd edit: M42 thread takeover.

Raise your hand if your state carries 94.

    :doesn't raise hand:

93 would be a better idea. At least you can find 93 octane in most of the states on the East coast.

Nah, I want 94. Just wanted to see if anyone else does. I'm not going to compromise my performance (even 1 octane point) for you people. :P

Seriously though, I know some states carry it.

I just read something about PA having it. Strange, I thought it was more widespread.

Fair enough, I'll edit the thread title.

Now I may be interested in an M42 chip if he gets around to 'em. :)

The Ohio Sunoco's have it. I ALWAYS buy my gas from Sunoco. The one Sunoco a little further away from me has 110 octane gasoline. Its damn near $4.50 a gallon. Have yet to try it on my e30, but my dad's put it in his Triumph and it seemed a whole lot faster, but mid-tank, it ran like shit. Had to use fuel injector cleaner.

He has them, but those are 91-octane and I don't see him making a new one for M42's.

How well would they work with 92 octane? That's the highest we have.

I'd say just get the same one I have in my car at the moment for you. Created for 91, one hell of a difference from stock. I'm just greedy.

Will he still be carrying the 91 chips once the 93's are produced? How much are the 91 chips?

Yeah, for sure. They're listed for $199USD right now.

It's too bad you guys live so far, I'd actually lend you the spare 2nd-gen one I have now just so you could feel the difference.

Is the 1730576-001-078 # the 173 you guys are talking about? does that mean I can use these chips?

The 173 should be at the end of the code from what I've seen. If it's a '90 cabrio though it should be 173. If you have the time go in there and take a pic of the label.

All the labels/numbers are : the one I listed,: 1730576-001-078 on a white rectangular label, WBABB2312L EC22971 CASE silver with BMW logo, BOSCH 0261 200 380 Made in Germany on a larger rectangilar lable.

That yellow one was hard to read, the words are silver and only showed up when I pointed the flashlight just right.

                              Thanks
