ballpark price for fabbing up some motor mounts...

What is ballpark for a guy with a welder to swing by a house and fab up some mounts? The motor would be positioned, and ready to go....

    What is a fair price?

Anyone maby know what this kind of work usually goes for?

What are you trying to accomplish with these motor mounts that can't be done with stock mounts? Are you talking solid mounts?

I would guess they would be for his m30 swap. ;)

In that case, I'd model them, maybe with stryofoam, and send it off to someone. I wouldn't expect a machinist to be able to do something like that as a house call. Do the engine mounting brackets line up with the mount points on the chasis?

If you can take very detailed drawings, measurements of all the angles and what not. I can do auto cad drawings that you can just take to any machine shop and have them build the mounts.

On another note, for most of my Engineering design projects we ussualy factor in $0.30 per foot of weld used, but then there is material cost and the cost of the welder driving out. I'd Print out those pictures, and take them in to a welding shop wo see how much ruffly they would charge.

Yes - more pics would be awesome - if you know a 2 or 3 year engineering student that wantes to make some money, let me know - I'd be willing to pay a little for a accurate isometric drawings...

Get in touch with NitroRustlerDriver (Andrew) here on the forum. He's my brother in law, and if you were to get a hold of a set and mail them to him, he could probably do some 3D models in AutoDesk.

hehehehe - if I could get a hold of a set I could do it myself...

I ordered them from germany - waited 2 months - and then was told they were lost in the mail....

I'm starting my third year in Engineering in April, Major in Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing. So I can do the drawings no problem.

that would be awesome if someone could make some schematics of these mounts, probably a hell of a lot cheaper having a machine shop make them than trying to get them from germany

Heh, I will be going into Junior year of highschool and could draw those up and build them if I had measurments. They really are simple.

Hum, I could maybe even design some on my own. Since I have an m30 engine in the garage and a parts car in the driveway with an empty engine bay. Maybe tommorow I'll look into cutting the engine bay off the parts car and moving it into the garage.

Then go to homo-depot and get some 1/4 or maby 3/8 inch plywood and build a mock up of the mounts out of that...
