Rare? LoL. They made over 2 million E30's, they aren't rare by any means, unless you are talking about an E30 M3.

If you have an E30 already, and 5 g's on top, sell your bronzit (puke) E30 and buy a mint 1989 325i and modify that instead of your 325e.

    RISING EDGE

Let's drive fast and have fun.

I dunno a whole lot about the E30's yet... but If I had an ETA and 5k to spend...

I would go with the "i" head and have the motor worked over a bit. I assume that would cost me $1000? Since the car would be pretty quick already, I wouldnt worry too much about HUGE motor work like a turbo setup. Instead, I'd move on to the suspension. You could wrap up another $1000 in that... springs, shocks, sway bars and strut bars... After the suspension, rims and tires - another $1000 easy... whatever you like. That leaves you with $2g roughly. With the remaining $$ I would spend on cleaning it up... seats, carpet, shifter $ knob, stereo, etc...

Make my $5k would go FAST!!!

TJ, The Primary reason I never see modified prefacelift cars is because EVERYBODY tells people to modify the newer ones and junk the old ones.

Timmy, Keep the car, and build a 2.8L or a 2.7I, or do an M50 swap for a motor, however do everything else firs,t suspension, brakes, etc

Now that makes a lot of sense. Seeing his eta has low mileage, it should fetch another $3K grand. Between what cash he's got now plus selling his current car, he would have enough to buy a really nice late model E30.....I'm talking clean-ass 325is.

Heck, even $5K itself can get you a pretty nice E30 if you don't jump for the first one you see.

I'd keep yours, dump it all into suspension, brakes, and engine mods. Keep it looking total sleeper though, suprise some people when they see you coming down the road. :D
The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.

yeah, sell the old car and get a better one. That much money (5K) would pull a mint 325is or 318is. Then you can spend that 3 grand on a suspension kit, wheels, and the standard bold on engine mods.
                Im now E30less.

whatever you do, include a driver's school in the budget. Cost to benefit factor cannot be measured ;)

Why are you guys all stoked on later style cars?

I think some of the best E30 are the early styled ones...

ummm, do you know who you are quoting?

I dont hate the early cars, you just are not going to get the same results with that 5k figure as you would with a nice late model. Not to mention you are starting behind with an auto Eta.

A 5 speed 325i has more pep out of the box and it doesnt have those horrendous US bumpers, and horrendous is the nice way to put it. Its starting on a higher plane.

Are you sure you want to dump it all into your car?

If you're sure, then you might as well do what everyone else is saying, sell your current car, find a better e30, and mod that.
