Where to get rear strut braces?

I was dead-set on buying one from Eric Lukas, but he has been unable to get them for quite a while now, and it looks as though he still won't be able to get them for a while yet.

What companies make some decent ones, and where are the best places to get them?

If you're willing to DIY it a bit, do what I did; take a decent sized pipe (I think I used 2") and cut two decently thick pieces of metal (up to 3/8" should be fine, enough for the shock mount nuts to grip) and drill 2 holes and cut the middle out. Then, bolt the two plates onto the shock mounts and put the rear frame on axle stands (so the towers aren't being pushed together) and measure the distance, cut your pipe, weld it up and bold it up.
It works fantastically, and I'm sure people are going to talk about doing it the 'right' way, but I have alot more stuff I want to buy instead of paying someone to basically do what I just said.
The front's trickier... plus people are actually going to see it.

Why are you getting a rear stress bar? I don't understand since the springs are
connected to the trailing arms and body so there's no stress on the towers :?:

Yes im wondering the same, why would you want a rear brace?

I am sure there is some force from the shocks on the towers, they look pretty strong to me, but I am making aluminum braces for the front and rear towers for the e30s. This will take a few more weeks for me to get around to but the design for the rear is simple, and I already have the front for non "ix"/ m3 cars. I will sell rear ones for 50 and front ones for 85.

Later I will do ix and m3 front bars

A strut brace across the back does the same thing as one across the front, it tightens up the chassis and eliminates body flex in the corners.

Nah, they really don't do anything, they are just for looks. Trust me, I have one.

they do serve the same purpose as Z3 reinforcement plates though, and at least the eric lukas one was inexpensive. I dunno, I've had some people tell me that they make a huge difference, but I hadn't driven my car for 3 months before I put it in, plus I changed all of the rest of the suspension parts so I can't really say.. my guess, it makes a difference but not by much.

I'd worry about finding a car first, getting everything else done, and when you run out of things to do to the car (not likely), get the rear brace for the fun of it :)

I had an RD rear brace on my car, and after removing it to regain trunk space and make room for stereo equipment, I haven't noticed one thing different about the car's handling.
