I'm unsure if I will be putting 15"s on it. So for a good all around tire for 14" world in 195 or 205 series what are you guys running. Mind you this car will not be driven to much in winter nor does it have to handle on rails.

I need a good performing and good wear and gas mileage tire. I was looking at RE910 and Yoko Avid's. I hate the fact that all manufacter's think we need 19" wheels on all of our cars.... Making good performing 13-15" tire near impossible.

Money not a big factor but would like stay below $100 a tire. I buy local and mail order so not a big deal on where they come from.

This is for my wifes cabrio so I don't want it to ride like a washboard or she will never drive it. She really doesn't like her VW Passat VR6 after I put Koni's all the way around it but I set them to the softest setting.

Check out the Falken Ziex ZE-512, even comes in 205/60/14. Good all around. After that for a bit more coin the RE950's are solid.

if its for your wife, and she wants something comfortable, not noisy, etc.... look into some Avid H4/T4's.
A little soft on sidewall but a good all around for wives/mothers.

your tread life is abnormal. Maybe its the characteristics of the iX... I dont know, dont care.

*MOST* people get ~20k miles out of a set of ES100's with hard driving.
I've got 15k on mine with lots of hard driving and I've still got almost 50% tread depth.

Its a car for gregs wife, i dont think she is a clutch popping burnout master rally-X childish punk who will wear through tires in 3 months.

I wouldn't say Potenza's are shit, they are some great tires especially the S03. I would also suggest the Kuhmo MX as it is great in the rain and dry and seem to wear pretty good. Do a good search on Tirerack as they have comparison tests of tires.

Now this thread was oriented nicely lets not get heated I just wanted open opinions. ES100's not available in 195's but are in 205's.

But since I still have the other sets of RZ378's I might go this route with the car.

In my personal opinion and experience, potenza's are not what they are hyped up to be. There are many other alternatives which in my personal feeling are better suited. I also failed to specify, I was broad in stating "potenza's".... perhaps I would have been better off by clarifying (re750, re950, etc.) the S03's are excellent tires. Loud, but great traction.

MX's in 14" eh? Pass that dutch. There are like 5 good tires in our sizes, and they've all been named in this thread.

Sumitomo HTR 200

I just got these Sumitomo HTR 200 205 60 14's on my cabrio a few months ago they are really good in the rain, are quiet & handle really well in the dry. There is a twisty part of the autopista about 200 miles from Laredo that I was able to comfortably hang at 90 on.

I paid 3600 pesos installed & aligned here where prices for anything automotive is really high. Tire rack has them for 43.00 each for 205 60 14

My 205's are really close to rubbing I think 215 is too big.
