more subframe headachs

so I was able to drop my subframe but the top part of the bushing broke in the car.

I tried this method


but as hard as I hit it won't come out and it will just get to the point where a hard enough blow will just push the bolt right out.

I've tried to drill it out by my drill bit is only so big and it really didn't make a difference..

how are you guys drilling it out and how bit of a bit are you guys using?

I had this happen to me twice. I used a 1/8" drill bit to make small holes in the bushing, drilling in a line, then I used a cold chisel to crack the rest of the bushing out. Get plenty of drill bits.

i used the bolt method. Find one that will thread further up in their and hammer from the top...

Blast it with a fire extinguisher to freeze it then chisel it .

Or you could invest in a bushing tool set...

Oh and you have to pull the SF all the way out.

whats the SF?

the bolt I have will thread all the way up but it still does it. I most likely will have to chisel it. I might try to freeze it with that spray freeze stuff

Or you could invest in a bushing tool set...

the bushing tool set would be useless on the part thats broken in the car.

I have a press that I use to press in and out my bushings on the part it self like the subframe but it won't do me any good because of whats broken in the car

I used the FredK technique and the metal sleeves bushings popped out with a couple forceful blows no problem. The trick I find is to use some heat on the bushing while you pound furiously at it. If you have the rest of the bushing out and a chisel gun i would get a long tip and chisel away at the remains.
