m3 Cab will NOT slide onto CA

I lubed it, heated it, twisted it, pushed it and I can't get it to slide onto the cab to save my life. I called up a friend bigger than me, he couldn't get it on.

Anyone successfully made a DIY rig? Or have a tip? I need to finish my car in a couple hours (well would really like to) And this is incredibly frustrating.

For this, you need a press.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I just did this the other day, really did need a 4lb "engineer" hammer to get it done. $15 at lowe's.

Freeze the bushing/lolipop, then use lots of lube, and the heaviest hammer you have.

I used a long wood clamp. Put one end in one of the holes in the CA and the other on the bushing with a socket the same size on it and press it on. something like that lol

i used a hammer and a chunk of 2x4 to install my offset delrin bushings. just sprayed wd-40 on the inside of the hole, then firmly hammered the bushings on with the block of wood in between to protect them.

took about 5 minutes per side to install the bushings on the c.a. i had new control arms as well, so that made it easier i guess.....

                  +1

I made a tool out of some all thread, bits of sheet metal and some wood.

Look at BMW7246-2 on this page, http://www.technictool.com/bmw-thust-arm-tools.htm , you're basically trying to imitate that. Mine barely lasted long enough to do both sides, but it got them on.

                      thanks guys.

my new control arm just seemed too big. I ended up making a contraption at the hardware store then returning it. So I was only out 5 bucks and it saved a lot of time.

for you uys with hammers I tried, and I used a shit ton of laundry detergent as lube. So not sure you guys get them to slip on, or hammer on, but for future reference making a contraption is pretty easy.

BFH and a big socket. One side I didn't lube thoroughly enough so it got stuck when it was 80% on, that was fun trying to bolt the lollipop onto the frame, let me tell you.

People who have used dawn/lube... I am about to install mine, should copious amounts of dawn be used? How much is too little? I just worry that going overboard will not allow it to dry and setup and too little will not get it on there (i know, i know, its a hard question to answer but do your best :P)

Just go overboard. The detergent will be squeezed out whether you put a lot or a small dab, as the fit between the rubber bushing and the control arm is very tight.

I use a weird looking contraption that I made from some all thread and a harmonic balancer puller. I bet one of those long wood clamps, as someone mentioned above, would work great.
