GC kit with bilsteins and koni sports

    I want to get this.....

    Spring rates

    Rear:625
    Front:440

I have bilsteins in the rear, and stock up front right now. I want to order these struts: http://www.velocitymotorcars.com/kon...non-sport.html

    My car is a 1990 325i sedan.

How does this sound? Is it an epic fail? I don't know much about suspension....so please let me know if this will be a good choice before I buy it.

Ground Control is widely considered by people here to be of excellent quality.

We can help you, but you know that you yourself will still not be 100% confident with your decisions because you are talking to ghosts. Call GC.
They have great customer service and are patient.

I called GC the other day, and spoke to them for awhile. They recommended spring rates for the koni and bilsteins, so that's how I got that. I also got opinions from people who have that same spring rate and they said it feels great, still soft enough for a DD but not too soft to scrape on every bump. I just need help on where to buy the struts...

You still need to call GC again, there are some "off the shelf" Konis that work very badly if the car is lowered.

This has nothing to do with GC or Koni, it has to do with what the Germans and Dutch were thinking back in 1984, and I can't figure out what the hell they were thinking sometimes.

Just talked to GC again. They said bilsteins in the rear and konis up front won't work well....why? He said they don't compliment eachother. It will be stiff in the front and soft in the rear...

Dude, I think GC is onto something there! Maybe you should listen.

Should I sell the bilsteins in the rear and just pay a couple extra bucks and get konis all around?

Yes, get the specially valved Konis with the shortened front strut housings and camber plates.

Seriously. This is what I was going to say. If you just hack together a coilover kit, you're never going to think it's up to par with what you wanted, and you'll eventually just upgrade to rear adjustable konis, then you won't be low enough and you'll modify your struts. Then you'll complain about rubbing and get camber plates. Might as well grab the whole kit and be done with it.

                          What's a good complete kit that's around 1k? That's about my budget

I was thinking about these if I was to buy a kit...

What is the core charge all about? I don't understand that

I think the complete from GC is around $1500, little more if you have modify your struts (which is a good idea).

Just save up some extra money and do it right from the beginning.

When you say modify the struts...what do you mean? Shortening it?
