    You sure you want that?

    GC kit: $399
    Short front Koni's: $199 each
Rear Shocks: Idk, $250+ a pair for your choice of brand?

See how it becomes one big circle in pricing?
This is already a 1k+ setup and aren't even TRUE coil overs..

I was assuming you already had Bilstein Sports on your car for some reason.
Just do what people are saying with the H&R Race Springs or be patient and buy everything second hand if you want a coil kit.

Are you running just bilsteins and racing springs? Or did you take out your spring pads as well?
Well then sell your used bilsteins and buy the whole set new.

I took out the front spring pads. . . . which is about 3mm (basically nothing)

          Listen to this man.

If you just trying to salvage the rear Bilsteins by getting the Konis, you are better off saving up for a complete coilover kit and selling the rear shocks to recover some money. There is no point piecing it all together and trying to make a collection of unrelated parts work if you don't know what you are doing.

Unless you plan to install the parts yourself the money you will spend on labour each time you 'upgrade' is just money lost that could have gone towards a better setup.

I want it to be low enough to look cool and handle better but not so low that it's not drivable as a daily...
^^This sounds like an H&R Race with or without drop-hats setup to me.. Just do this like everyone recommended. Since it's your first suspension change, you are going to be very pleased, seriously.

Pics of "slammed-ness" I've never seen an H&R race setup that was "slammed."

Then again I ran my bronzit car around just barely tucking 215/40/17s up front. And I still could have gone a bit lower.

OP, What would you use the adjustability of the coilovers for? Going to get out and turn the adjusters when you see a high-spot approaching? H&R race is about perfect for what you describe. Low enough to look good, stiff for the fun corners, DD'-able, can still make it over speed bumps, cost efficient.

Alot of guys, like nando and me for instance, raise the cars back up in the winter when you're having to deal with snow/ice/junk in the road, then lower it back down during the warm months.

You know what, z31 is right. Just get out your pocket book and give GC $1600 so you can raise the car up when it snows in California and you need to go 4x4-ing in your E30.

You asked what people would use the adjustability for, I gave an example, doesn't mean it pertains to OP.

I'm just giving you shit. In an example such as Nando, It is a very good point. But again, his car is an ix.

I just don't see any reason to encourage the OP to buy a $1600+ suspension set-up with his low experience and described needs.

I was in the suspension ride height thread and a lot of people run bilsteins with the GC kit and are happy with it. Why do you guys try and push me away from it? Is it a bad setup?

as requested, jatwood & z31 heres my setup. Im on 14's with 60 series tires that are bald so with good 65's id be tucking all around. H&R race, bilstein sports, no pads, and 15mm drop hats.

that is plenty low. I scrape over everything. have like 2 inches ground clearance with exhaust:

I am in the same situation as you OP. Here is what i was told Just today by GC. Bascially they said if we run the conversion kit with billy sports (Bilstein's) we will "always bottom out" ..which i find exagerated and misleading. I mean they are nice but the comment was a bit dramatic.. Besides we would find numorus threads with guys/gals talking abt therer GC/Billy sport combo bottoming out like a mofo. Anyway, OP I am like you. I want a low drop, minimal gap..say a finger or so (.25" gap between the rubber and fender). Have you looking into lowtec springs/shock combo? they have a 60/50mm spring. But i was told the springs are to soft, yet i am told they are not.. Anybody wanna chime in on this? OP what size tires/rims are u running or plan to run? Cause that will play a factor as well. Which is why i am having a hell of a time with finding a good set up the doesnt cost as much or more than the car. yet do0esn the Job and i can DD in style Mine is a 90 325is. Are u gonna upgrade wheels? If you are maybe you should share specs. For example i plan on running 16x10 ET 12 wrapped on a 215/40/16 (rears) and a 16x8 ET 7 front wrapped on a 194/40/16. Yes i like aggressive/flush fitment (stance) and stretchy tires :)
