I run bilstiens w/ GC coilovers and I have no complaints, not super slammed but low enough for a drivers car. I have no problems and the car handles great. If you have the extra money get the full GC kit but I think but I think billys accomplish the job just fine.

Yeah, you shorten the strut housing itself, so you can go low buy maintain suspension travel using a shorter insert.

Cool, sounds great. Think I'm just gunna get koni front struts and maybe rear shocks and call it good with the $399 GC kit.

I've been itching to try the Konigsport coils from ECS. Definitely a great price.

be careful because i believe that you need to order shocks that are shorter than the typical e30 shocks, so that if you shorten the strut then you dont have the shock sticking out of the strut. i am about to do the same thing, but i already have my conversion kit sitting next to me with out the shocks. still figuring out where i can get the appropriate short shock that will work with my shortened strut. if anyone knows where that would be great (preferably koni's)

What is the core charge all about? I don't understand that
              Core charge?

They are precharging you $925, hence the $2000+ price tag, for a pair of stock strut housings which you can find for $150.

If you don't send your stock struts back to them, in this case ECS, they just made some mad money off you.

If you do send ECS anything ask for a signature and blood sample from the person who signed for it. IMO ECS is one of the shadiest operations on the planet.

Do it once, do it right, and your suspension will be awesome and complaint free for years.

or, piece it together under some false assumption that I NEEDZ LOW NAOZ and be unsatisfied for years because you were too impatient to save up the extra $500 for a vastly superior setup.

                Your call.

You wont be unsatisfied with a DIY coilover unless you really fuck up the rates/travel.

Are you saying buy a complete kit? Or piece together my own?

What's the best kit out there that comes with everything, and reasonably priced?

I just switched to these same exact spring rates on my 1990 325i coupe, I used to have 600f/700r but it was way too harsh for my daily, had them for a couple weeks now, very tolerable and they are still stiff enough to go low without worrying about bottoming out. Highly recommend them

If you are patient, I'd just save up and get the full ground control coilovers. They are vastly superior to a bilstien/gc combo and even off shelf konis/gc combo. Once you have the full setup you'll be amazed an e30 can be that low, handle so well and still not be terribly harsh. Oh and bonus: you get the m3 style swaybar tabs!

Who here has the full GC coilover kit/and full coilover kit? And who has just the 399$ kit?

I have the "$399" kit although I didn't buy it directly new from GC...
I pieced together my kit with desirable rates and had Castro's(I recommend them for all your E30 needs) weld tabs on my housings to run M3 links.

I saved a shit ton of money with my final setup and have no problem hanging with and/or surpassing my friends with full fancy coil-over set ups on their E36's, E30's, and Jap cars in the local twisties and canyons or where ever..
