Ok, so im attempted to put my strut bar on my 85 318i and im having some trouble. Its about an 1nch off. so i jacked the car up. Is an 1in way too much, or do you think it will settle by tommorow so that i can put the bar on?

i take it your struts are an inch too narrow.
Wasnt there something going around saying that there was a difference in some of teh strut towers, like some were narrower than others?
back to your car, you should beable to just jack it, and just make it fit. When i did mine on my old car i had to kinda push down on the tires a bit.

1 inch seems to be a little extreme for chassis sag.. I think you would know if it were that bad (there's not much gap between the stock hood and fenders). I don't believe at all that your chassis is sagging that much. kinda like my strut brace (almost 1" off), there was no way it was the car's fault, I could see maybe 1/2".Comment

An inch is a lot. Has the car been in an accident in the front?Adam Fogg- '88 M3

Psst. My car has never been in any serious accident aside from sheet metal (fender/hood) dents.
My Sparco bar was also about an inch too long. I cut the ends off, shortened the bar, and welded it all back together.
Then I bead blasted it, and had it painted body color.
Just do it, or pay someone else to. Won't be that bad..Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast
