    1.9 Z3 Rack Source?

What is the best place to buy a Z3 rack and pinion? I see them on eBay, but then I'd be buying a performance part from eBay, and we all know how that will end.

So, where should I buy it?

I'm sure many parts sponsors on here can hook you up. Blunt, imbm parts (PM Danny), etc.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

^Wish we had Z3's in yards around here. Hell, I was esctatic to find an E30 in a yard locally last weekend.

Anyway, I was just looking at this tonight. Rock auto has one for stupid cheap, ~$250. By some brand I have never heard of, and they say they "re-engineer" their racks to get rid of any issues. That just plain scares me.

Both Blunt and IE sell them, IE has 2 for ~$320, but list one of them for the E36 as well, and that's not the rack I want. Blunt has it listed for ~$460. My biggest issue is I want to know for a fact I will be getting the Z3 2.7 turn lock to lock rack, not the average run of the mill E36 rack.

I got one through LKQ, it was just over $200. They basically source junkyards, but the parts are clean with a warranty and the website tells you exactly what year, make and model the part comes out of, as well as engine size and mileage. I was even able to call and verify that it was the correct ratio.

On the down side, prices tend to fluctuate and availability is sometimes spotty; you may have to wait for a good deal to come up.

rackdoctor.com know their stuff very well, are BMW enthusiasts and are quite aware about the demand for the Z3 racks. Give them a call. They do have them, I just installed mine last month.

Rich (the RackDr)just re-man'ed my e36 rack and told me he picked up 10 Z3 cores to redo. I'm not sure if he will sell one without a core swap but he definitely knows his stuff and is a great guy to deal with.

My rack was back at my door 3 days after I shipped it. Cant beat that for service:D
