Might have ruined my entire power steering

So I had a leak coming from my steering rack and decided to go the easy/broke way and got some stop leak chemical, I don't really know much about that stuff so I asked a dude from autozone he gave me Lucas engine oil stop leak 100% petroleum so I poured it in the ps and later found out I screwed up and the dude gave me the wrong shit. I barley drove the e30 just up the street to check if it stopped the leak .
How fucked am I and is there any way I can still save my power steering ?

I just bought a e36 steering rack but I wana flush out that petroleum shit before I put it on, what would be the best way to drain it and is there any liquid out there that'll flush it out or dissolve that crap

Just unhook the lines and drain it out. Turn the wheel lock to lock a few times until nothing else comes out. If you are really paranoid, seal it up and fill it up with cheap PS fluid, start the engine and turn the wheel lock to lock 10 times, and then repeat the draining procedure. Swap in the new rack, add some reputable PS fluid and drive. It's probably not a big deal. Worst case, your PS pump is dead and you have to pay $30 for a used one in the FS section.

I ran no fluid in my ps for a while (not recommended) but just empty it and put the right stuff in, and stay away from autozone. They are fucktards. lol

If you wanted total peace of mind, you could just pick up a new pump and replace it while you're replacing the the lines, reservoir, and rack.

While the engine oil stop leak may not be as effective in the power steering system as a power steering stop leak, Those and transmission stop leak products are all similar and using the wrong one probably won't hurt anything.

The easiest way to flush the PS system is to suck all of the fluid out of the reservoir, refill with fresh, and cycle the steering from lock to lock several times (with the engine running). Then repeat until you have used a couple of quarts of fluid. Drive the car for 500-1000mi and repeat.

Fixing a leaking rack with stop leak has about the same chance of success as that of winning the lottery. The only real fix will be a rebuilt rack.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Two <1" rubber hoses to space out the banjo bolts on the rack is all you need. Local kragen gave it to me for free. Just bring the two bolts in and get hoses that fit over them. It'll let air out of the rack and stop dirt from getting in.

for driving around the town its fine. expect steering to get heavy if your braking late into a corner while turning in. i also didnt like not having PS for drifting. the wheel doesnt turn as quickly with switchbacks and shit. it felt funny for that kind of stuff.

                            does ur car feel quicker?
m20 is plenty. im simply a drifter.

The only time I've noticed it sucks is when I'm pulling in a parking lot and some one else is pulling out
Not quicker but I feels a lot more fun to drive fast haha
