    Comprehensive guide to extreme lowering?

So far after a couple weeks of looking through this forum I've gathered you want for the front:
    e90 top hats
    ix front shocks
    strut tubes shortened 85mm
    short stabilizer links

    And for the rear:
    3rd gen camaro rear shocks
    offset subframe bushings
ovaled out trailing arm mounting points

Apart from my choice brand of springs and dampers, is there anything I'm missing?

you are going to run stock springs on sectioned tubes? What's the point, just go coil over.

The only time I mentioned springs was when I specifically said I wasn't talking about them in this list. But thanks for sidetracking my thread with the very first reply. I appreciate it.

get coil adjusters with your choice of springs and cut the spring perch down. that helps a bit

So besides the springs, I haven't missed anything? This should allow the mechanical side of the suspension down a good 3-4" without binding anything up?

you said e90 top hats, that is for stock diameter springs.

Just stop. If you can't even make one on topic post, please don't bother me.

Is that a joke? And once again, I never said which dampers I was gonna get.

                    What's with you guys?

If you section the tube (removing the stock spring perch), and weld on an after market spring perch, you'll have to use smaller diameter coil springs which won't work with e90 drop hats.
Which (I think) is all Cody is getting at.

Why would I need to weld in an aftermarket perch? Is there something about the factory one that's inadequate?

85mm is too much to section out and your iX shock insert will be longer than the housings itself.
75mm max since that's roughly the length of the shock itself.

e90 hats only work if you are using stock springs on a stock perch, or tapered springs.
If you do intend to section the housing and use a stock perch(not sure why anyone would), you won't be able to fit any wheels as the tire will touch the perch now since you lowered it by sectioning it.
Cut the perch off and weld a bead around the area as a base for your coilover collar to sit on.
Camber plates > e90 hats. For several reasons.

Swaybar links are already short as can be. Idk if they come any shorter?
Considering the fab work, weld M3-tabs to your housings as an upgrade and "while-you're-in-there" type of deal. Much better, and then you can play with link length.

tl;dl: skip all of this and call BCracing and tell them you want a shorter shock setup to lower your car to undriveable heights. They are aware of current car culture and won't laugh at you - I'm serious.

So a set of let's say IE springs won't work with an e90 top hat? Because I swear I just saw a guy who was running that exact setup.
