That's because Bilsteins don't compress very far.

With a set of Konis (not even any special shortened ones, just the regular SA) and cut bump stops, you have plenty of travel with the tire at fender height.

So running the Konis up front vs bilsteins you can run the front lower as long as its not to extreme?

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

How much do you need to cut out of the front strut housings, for the GC's?

For sure. There is considerably more travel with Konis and short bumpstops compared to Bilsteins.

I took factory bump stops and cut them in half. I run konis in my ix. Im switching to coilovers soon (possibly GC) prolly will run with no bump stop. ive read people do this to. Shouldn'd be a problem with different models of the koni's im guessing.

Haha, no, that isn't good. I ran like that for a while, blew out both front shocks fairly quickly and experienced the most incredibly painful bottoming ever. If you want to rip your front shock towers through the hood, do this.

Ix struts are already shorter. Is there some webpage where look threw to see if theres one that matches the size for the ix but shorter?
