Lifting RWD E30 - Cabrio, iX, E36, etc?

    Hey R3V-

I am wondering what you have used to lift your E30.

I am just looking for a small increase in height as to keep geometry in order out back. Too much lift would theoretically pull the rear wheel towards the front of the car and make it tough to align without substantially dropping the subframe.

-iX springs appear to be the exact same as that of a 325e up front, rear iX springs just appear to have a slightly higher spring rate.

-E30 Cabrio springs are stiffer, but by how much and how much will that lift a late model RWD 325?

-E36 vert springs work out back and are stiffer than E30 springs, what’s the lift difference?

-E36M springs will work up front and are stiffer, but what spring would they be best paired with out back?

    -E34 springs?

I’ve done a bunch of research but haven’t found anything conclusive, so I thought it’d be handy to consolidate the information to a searchable thread.

What have you used to lift your E30 a bit?

Lower it, don't lift it. Bilstein B8 sport shocks on H&R's... I am restoring my vert and bought OEM shocks etc. I returned them for the aforementioned setup, and let me just say, my smile grew even more. It seems to be the go-to setup on the verts and for good reason!

I’ve had plenty of lowered E30s, this is for a different type of project.

Thicker spring pads in the rear.
        Or something like this:

The rear is easy with several options and spring pads. I’m essentially just trying to find out what people have used in the past as a combo F&R so I don’t have to do the job 3 times.

Not much help for a full setup, but:

iX front spring perches may be worth half an inch?

Easy enough to do a coilover conversion up front to use a longer generic spring, even if you don't cut the housings or anything.
Or run a spacer between the strut mount and tower (like an '02).

Camber/toe might need correction in the rear like on the iX
