That's a problem with many aftermarket wheels without a bolt securing the cap. I don't have Maxlite's but I have Axis Klassics with twist on nuts. Over time they back out and eventually fall off. I've had to use loctite on the threads which has worked for years now. Maybe you guys can use puddy, hot glue or something to help keep them in place."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

Totally kills it for me . As now I’m scared to even have the caps on there . What’s the point of brand new wheels if I have to have the center caps off .
TBH I have been thinking about how to design some sort of 3D printed insert to properly secure these caps. If I come up with something I'll let you all know.

Damn, yeah maybe there is a range of QC on the caps. One other thing that I did was to stiffen up the metal spring clip on the inside of the lock tabs (the little metal circular wire bent into a circle). I removed it from all 4 caps and bent it outward so that it ended up being a few millimeters larger in diameter than when I started. This seemed to increase the amount of "bite" that the little lock tabs had.

So using the groove and the plastic pin to line it up then locking it into position is that what you do? The maxilote guy he says they snap in I tried it that way getting the same results .

Yeah, line up the little plastic pin/peg thing with the notch in the center of the hub, then turn the plastic hex to lock the 3 expanding prongs into place. You may need to hold the waffle plate so that it does not turn with the hex.

Welp maxilite sent me 2 new caps . I didn’t like the idea of losing caps again so with ehrlich wheels works hex conversion for euro weaves they work perfectly on the maxilite . Threaded insert for the hub and polished hex . I reused the maxilite aluminum waffles . 300$ but piece of mind for me is worth it . Will probably powder coat the hexes later
